Accomplished Young Artist, Shayne Leighton, Signs With Major Indie Label Spectra Records

22-Year-Old Best-Selling Author, Accomplished Actress, and Recording Artist Shayne Leighton
Gets Signed to Major Independent Rock Record Label, Spectra Records

Feb. 6, 2013 - Accomplished, young actress, best-selling author, and recording artist, Shayne Leighton, has recently caught the attention of record executives of internationally renowned independent rock label, Spectra Records due to her ambitious, “go get ‘em” attitude and her rockabilly, musical style. Now, she has landed herself a recording contract with the widely respected label, a moment she has dreamt of since she was a small child. Raised in Palm Beach and currently residing in Fort Lauderdale, the vampy South Florida native has already dominated other facets of her career in entertainment. At the age of 18, Leighton wrote, co-directed, and starred in the local, independent thriller, The Incubus which was produced fully in South Florida and is now in syndication and being distributed on DVD all across the country. The Incubus also successfully obtained silver screen time among major movie theater chains such as Regal, AMC, and Cinemark.

Currently, Leighton is in development for her next feature film, this one based off of her published novel, Of Light and Darkness, which has also achieved a best-selling status on Amazon.com. The film, though in its early stages, already has signed on several members of young Hollywood such as Michal Welch (Twilight) and fellow South Florida native, Cassie Scerbo (ABC Family’s Make It Or Break It). Leighton’s sophomore novel, and sequel to the first installment of the Of Light and Darkness series is due out from Decadent Publishing in early 2013.

When Leighton is not working on her novels and films, she turns her attention to her first love. Music. Having recorded and performed professionally since an early age, she has dreamt of someday being noticed by record executives. Enter Bobby Collins and Jimmy Star of Spectra Records.

Founded in 1997, Spectra Records is an internationally successful independent record label specializing in the management, recording, recording distribution and representation of musical artists. Spectra Records has artists ranging from Grammy nominees to up and coming artists. Spectra Records prides itself on maintaining a strong presence in the music industry with high integrity. Spectra Records was launched originally as a rock-music-only label in 1997. By 1998, the label's musical base was expanded to include all genres of music.

In 2010, Spectra added the Spectra Jazz division to include a wide variety of jazz genres including traditional, bop, Latin, and contemporary styles. And most recently, Spectra added Monarchy Records division to include a wide variety of R&B, Soul, and Hip Hop. Among Spectra’s many acts are Lou Gramm, T-Rex, Magni, Gregory Abbott, Cutting Crew, HalfBrother Sid, Robbie Dupree, Transmission Fields, Down Theory, Kizzy Star, Paul Young, The Hitchers, and The Gypsy Sons.

Leighton will begin production on her debut album in the spring with Spectra executive, Bobby Collins and A&R, Jimmy Star steering the project (and Leighton) in a direction that promises to bring back the excitement of classic 80’s glam rock into the forefront of today’s music market. Leighton will be something like a Heart / Pat Benatar fusion for the modern age with some awesome, new, rock anthems and an edginess that is sure to be refreshing in an era of Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, and the like.
